In planning the layout design for Buzzed, I aimed to combine professional magazine structure with a look that reflects both sports energy and readability. I also matched the visual style I’ve adopted here on my own blog. The way content is arranged on the page affects how the audience experiences the text and images, and influences their interpretation of athletic performance, motivation, and brand identity.
Grid System & Structure
A carefully defined grid system is the backbone of a magazine layout
- images
text blocks
pull quotes
captions
This creates a consistent and professional appearance throughout the magazine. The grid ensures visual balance and promotes clarity.
A three‑column grid for most articles to balance images and text
Larger image areas for feature spreads to emphasize action photography
Smaller columns or blocks for sidebars, tips, nutrition facts, and quick guides
This structure allows readers to easily digest information without feeling overwhelmed, and maintains visual energy.
Color, Branding & Consistency
The layout carries a consistent color palette that reflects Buzzed’s brand identity
energetic, bold, and modern
Bold accent colors (e.g., reds, blues, blacks) echo the energetic tones found in professional fitness templates designed for sports blogs.
White space is intentionally used to prevent clutter and maintain focus on key elements.
